An odd quirk of writing something without narration can be looking for places for names to be said. Most people reading this comic will, of course, know that Grace is Grace, Tedd is Tedd, etc.

At the same time, however, there are a lot of characters, and plenty of them look similar. There can also be changes to art style, haircuts, outfits, etc. There are also people who only read the comic on occasion, and aren't here for each and every page as they come out.

Name reminders can be appreciated, and even if a little forced at times, a good habit to have for general clarity with this sort of medium. This is especially true in the opening chapters of a story when a character is effectively being reintroduced to the audience.

WHICH is why Edward says "you have a deal, Grace" instead of just "deal."
