I mean, Tedd and Elliot alone are a reason to confuse, but it also addresses a lot of minor things, like how Elliot's going to eat pizza with sore hands, and the fact that Edward wasn't originally going downstairs to break big news (unless pizza is big news), and presumably chose that moment on impulse in response to Grace.
