The pants of immortals get increasingly smarty as they age, though the difference isn't all that noticeable for a few decades.

This is quite different to mortals, who potentially realize at some point that their minds are never going to automatically morph into some mythical "wise adult" mode, and that maturity and wisdom take genuine, continuous effort, and maybe all the older people who seemed to know everything when they were younger are in the same boat, and so many people aren't as smart or knowledgeable as you once assumed, and you start questioning everything you've ever been told by another person, and...!
