That guy in the middle is Mark, a not-very-close friend of Jay.
Which sounds SUPER RUDE, but Jay basically hasn't gotten that close to anyone in spite of actually having a pretty active social life. Jay might not have shared much of anything personal with Mark, but the guy got her to play a collectable card game. That puts him pretty high up there, relatively speaking.
