Disguise

"I'll look that different?"

"Most people would, but with you? Even with makeup, I should toss in some extra 'you don't know me' magic. Maybe a slight hue shift for your hair..."

The "you don't know me magic" mentioned in this comic really was just a slight change to hair color. A few readers—meaning anywhere between three and several thousand—interpreted what Hope said as there being protection against recognition beyond appearance.

Which was a fair interpretation! Magic blocking recognition is a thing in fantasy and fairy tale stories, and I split up the dialogue balloons in the comic in such a way that could have implied a separation of "you don't know me magic" and hair coloring magic.

This will likely get a mention in the comic itself later, but I felt I may as well clarify that here for now.

Fantasy OR Fairy Tale?

I'm not exactly certain how the Venn Diagram of Fantasy and Fairy Tale looks, but I'm pretty sure Fantasy, at least, can be separate? At least in terms of where you'd put them on a store book shelf.

Heck, I don't know. Once defined, maybe The Lord of the Rings is a technically Fairy Tale, and we all just have to deal with it.
